Appreciation of Art Photography through Music
Photography and music are two different forms of art. They are lovely ways of expressing the emotions of an artist. To enhance the experience and admiration in connection with visual work, it is important to include cinematic displays, and integrate music and interactive online presentation like animations or infographics occasionally. The essential relationship between music and photography is driven by a successful establishment of an audiovisual presentation. It is also true to other forms of visual art that are paired with music. Music can create a deeper meaning. Can there possibly be a unique form of art when music is paired with art photography?
How can photography and music use together to create art?
- Music elements can be applied in a photograph.
Photography is an art that won’t be possible without a camera. It is the most basic thing a photographer needs. Others just come in to make the activity easier, more comfortable, and more efficient. Art photography is created in harmony with the perception of an artist, the photographer. A photograph of an object can convey different meanings as to how one interprets it. Moreover, an artistic photograph is a product of the presence of light, the choice of the scene, and the kind of camera used. To create a unique effect, the elements of music like melody, harmony, rhythm, tone, form, tempo, and dynamics can be added with restriction, and then attached to the presentation of the photo.
- The photograph’s message can be best conveyed through appropriate background music.
There are more applications of music that are less sophisticated. Generally, music is defined as an art that uses sound to express ideas and feelings. It can be a choice of acoustic sounds or purely blended tones. A violin tone or tones from an oboe or a sitar can also be preferred as opposed to electronic dance music. The choice in notes should be appropriate to the feeling that is represented by the photograph. It will also serve as the physical grounding for music.
What are the techniques used to show appreciation of art photography and music?
There is a specific technique used in showing inspiration and sophistication in art photography which is a challenging matter. The technique is known as high-dynamic-range imaging which makes images more luminous than standard digital images, and it also gives larger dynamic range. A greater luminance level can be achieved by using traditional method of capturing images such as the real-world scenes which receive direct sunlight and then combining narrow range exposure of the same image. Cameras that are non-HDR can capture pictures with a limited exposure range which results to the loss of details of the photograph like highlights and shadows. Music, on the other hand, has a technique called panning. It combines music creatively, but it can also disorient the musical arrangement through the sound field. Images with blur effect are deliberately done by the photographers, but with panning, it voluntarily blurs the image when the audio spectrum is terribly manipulated.
Finally, keeping music and photography together is essential. It gives music a visual representation and gives art photography a deeper sense of meaning when combined with music which gives the two a unique association. Undeniably, photography has an inseparable connection to the physical world, and music assesses its sensuality. They mutually influence each other. As Carolyn Abbate, an American musicologist, said, “Physical grounding and visual symbolism and verbal content change musical sounds by recommending how they are to be understood.” Therefore, photographs can change the meaning of music and vice versa.
